Astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken welcomed aboard International Space Station on their historic test flight mission.
The spacecraft made its “soft capture” docking with the ISS after an almost 19-hour journey since its launch on Saturday. The space station was 262 nautical miles above the border of northern China and Mongolia when the docking occurred. The docking sequence took two minutes.
This is the first time in nearly a decade that Americans have launched from a U.S. spaceport aboard U.S-made rockets and crew capsule.
The astronauts’ capsule, previously known as 2016, has been renamed Endeavor, continuing the tradition of astronauts naming their capsules.
The duration of their time aboard the ISS has yet to be determined.
